John was born in Leeds, studied Botany at Saint Andrews University and following his degree went to London where he trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He moved to Cambridge 33 years ago and set up his own accountancy business which he ran for 25 years. John still has a keen interest in science and nature and is a regular volunteer with Cambridgeshire Wildlife Trust. He is a long-standing member of Champion of the Thames Rowing Club, a keen swimmer and reluctant runner. John hopes that his accountancy and business experience will be helpful to the school particularly at a time when finances, unfortunately, are so critical to schools and to what they are able to achieve. On a wider scale, John has experience of working within the voluntary sector and has held a number of Trustee roles for other organisations.
